Kanye West Apologizes to Taylor Swift on Jay Leno

When Taylor Swift won a aVMA, her first, for the Best Female Video in VMA Award Ceremony 2009 on 14 September, Kayne West grabbed the mike from her and said “Taylor, I’m really happy for you. I’ll let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!” Everyone, including Beyonce, looked befuddled. Nicely, when Beyonce won later for Video of the Year, she visited Swift onstage to deliver her interrupted acceptance speech.

Kanye West Apologizes to Taylor Swift on Jay Leno

Jay Leno inaugurated his new 10 PM show on Monday night, and started things off with a blockbuster guest, Kanye West. Normally, a three minute stint wouldn’t be a big deal, but after Kanye’s flame-out with Taylor Swift on the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), managing getting him to apologize on the air is a big coup.

Kanye West, prior to apologizing on Jay Leno, had already posted two different apologies on his website. The first was a bit verbose, and included “explanations,” or perhaps “justifications,” but was replaced with a more succinct post.

At any rate, Kayne West did apologize on Jay Leno last night. He said (whether truly contrite or not) “it’s been extremely difficult just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away from a talented artist or from anyone because I only wanted to help people. My entire life I’ve only wanted to give and do something that I felt was right and I immediately knew in this situation that it was wrong and it wasn’t a spectacle or … it’s actually someone’s emotions that I stepped on. It was very – It was just – It was rude, period. I’d like to be able to apologize to her in person.”
